Jamaican singer / songwriter and producer. Born Anthony Cameron in 1962, Red Rose started his singing career as an altar boy at the local church in Spanish Town. His early upbringing planted the seed for the culture-based music he is dedicated to today.
He began selecting and DJing on the "Sir Duncan" Sound System and in 1980 recorded his first single, "Sandy" for producer and friend Bunny Lee. The popularity of this release opened the door to King Tubby. He spent a lot of time at King Tubby's new studio in Waterhouse, Kingston "learning from the pros, the Godfathers of Reggae. I used to just be around these brethrens all day as a youth, listening to them talk, watching them make good music - man like Sly, Bob [Marley], Bunny Lee, Inspector Willy, Peter [Tosh] - dem man are the real pioneers of reggae music." It was after learning from such legends that he penned and sung the first massive hit from Tubby?s new studio, "Tempo", one of the biggest Digital tracks of all time
He continued to release sporadic hits and in 1993 his first album, ?Family Man? was released in the UK, US and Japan to much critical acclaim. Shortly afterwards ?Tempo? became a hit for the second time after it received a Jungle remix.
His labels, ?How Yu Fi Sey Dat ?? and ?Raggedy Joe?, formed in partnership with fellow recording artist Anthony Malvo are two of the top producing labels in Jamaica and they boast an extensive catalogue. He has produced, written and recorded hits with the likes of Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Dennis Brown, Spragga Benz, Luciano, Sizzla, Beres Hammond, Mikey Spice, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Merciless, Tony Rebel, Simpleton, Cobra, Red Dragon, Everton Blender, Leroy Sibbles and many more
