Carlton and The Shoes

A fine Jamaican vocal trio, Carlton Manning and his brothers Donald and Lynford originally called themselves Carlton And His Shades but after a printing error on the label of their first single their new name stuck ! They had a huge Jamaican hit on Studio One in the late 60s with ?Love Me Forever? and their track ?Happy Land? was the basis of what would become ?Satta Masa Ganna?, one of the most versioned reggae tunes of all time and recorded for the first time by the Abyssinians, a trio that included Donald and Lynford with the addition of Bernard Collins. Carlton continued to make records at Studio One throughout the 70s, where he also worked as a session guitarist.
