Ken Boothe

Immensely popular Jamaican singer, his style was strongly reminiscent of US soul singers and he was often referred to as the Jamaican Wilson Pickett. Starting out with Stranger Cole in the early 60s under the name Stranger and Ken the duo had a number of hits in Jamaica such as ?World?s Fair? and ?Artebella? (available on Soul Jazz Records? Studio One Ska compilation). As Ska moved in to Rocksteady the hits continued, ?Moving Away?, ?The Train Is Coming? and ?Thinking?. His biggest hit outside Jamaica was his version of David Gates? ?Everything I Own?, which reached number 1 in the UK charts in 1974.
