King Stitt

A reggae legend, he styled himself as ?The Ugly One? due to a serious facial disfigurement. One of the first DJ?s and a big influence on all others who followed Stitt started out playing records and chatting on the mic on Coxsone Dodd?s Downbeat sound in the late 50s and remains an integral part of Studio One to this day, living in a house next door to the studio. Whilst he made records at Studio One his biggest hits were with the producer Clancy Eccles in the early 70s, backed by Clancy?s in-house band. Songs like ?Fire Corner?, ?Herbsman Shuffle? and ?Vigorton 2? were big hits in Jamaica and very popular in the UK too.
